Bingo Halls hit by smoking ban
The smoking ban has without any doubt come at the worst possible time for the British service industry, hitting pubs, clubs and particularly bingo halls. When a country is in a recession people do not need much convincing to stay in and not waste their money going out.
Free Bingo Afternoons hit hardest
The ban is mainly causing problems in the winter. It is not rocket science, people don’t like standing outside in the cold and wet to smoke. For some inexplicable reason the vast majority of bingo customers I’ve met, particularly those who played the free bingo in the afternoons happened to smoke. And quite copious amounts in fact.
Online Bingo is the solution for some
So, is it any wonder these people have taken to playing bingo online instead? Well, actually when you think about it yes, it is. Well think about it, bingo is hardly the most thrilling game in the world. And online where a computer does everything for you, surely it becomes even less entertaining. On the other hand, there is the fact that the money involved is higher. And can often be similar to the days when the national really was the national, not just the Mecca link up. So it is obvious to see the attraction to online bingo is perhaps a case of snowball effect the question however remains what was the catalyst, it must be the ban, or the recession in my opinion. But of course some would argue the business model for online bingo was foolproof. Again I would argue that point and will do shortly.
